Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. SPC stands for Stone Polymer Composite — the rigid limestone core is completely impervious to water. Unlike traditional laminate or hardwood, SPC flooring can be submerged without swelling, warping, or delaminating. It's rated for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and any high-moisture area.

In most cases, yes. SPC's rigid core and click-lock system allow it to float over existing hard surfaces including tile, concrete, and vinyl, as long as the subfloor is flat within 3/16" over 10 feet. Minor grout lines are fine — the rigid core bridges small imperfections.

SPC uses a stone-based rigid core that is 100% waterproof, while laminate uses an HDF (wood fiber) core that can swell if exposed to standing water. SPC is also more dimensionally stable under temperature changes, making it suitable for sunrooms and areas with radiant heat. Laminate typically offers a wider range of wood-look visuals at a lower price point.

Our StoneCraft SPC flooring comes with an attached IXPE or EVA pad, so no additional underlayment is needed in most installations. The attached pad provides sound absorption, thermal insulation, and a moisture barrier. A separate vapor barrier may be recommended over concrete slabs.

Absolutely. SPC flooring is formaldehyde-free, low-VOC, and meets strict indoor air quality standards. The thick wear layer resists scratches from pet claws, and the waterproof core handles accidents without damage. The textured surface also provides slip resistance for safer footing.

Warranty & Care Guide

Shoreline Brands stands behind every product we manufacture.

Lifetime
Structural Warranty

Covers manufacturing defects in lamination, milling, and assembly for as long as you own it.

50 Year
Finish Wear-Through

Protection against surface wear-through under normal residential use conditions.

Warranty Coverage

  • Products are warranted free from manufacturing defects in lamination, milling, and assembly.
  • Products will not buckle, cup, or warp when properly installed and normal humidity (35%–55%) is maintained.
  • Natural wood grain variations in pattern, color, and texture are not defects and are not covered.
  • Natural color changes that occur in wood over time are not covered under warranty.

Warranty Exclusions

  • Indentations, scratches, or damages from negligence, extreme heat, dryness, or water saturation.
  • Accidents, abuse, misuse, stiletto heel indentation, or chemical/industrial product stains.
  • Improper installation and maintenance, insufficient protection, or alterations to the original product.

Care Guide

Preventive Care

  • Use rugs at entrances to prevent sand and grit from scratching floors.
  • Apply felt pads on all furniture legs to prevent scratches.
  • Maintain 35%–55% humidity using humidifiers or dehumidifiers as needed.
  • Avoid stiletto heels and spiked sport shoes on flooring.

Maintenance

  • Wipe up spills quickly to protect from excess liquid.
  • Sweep or vacuum regularly with a hard floor attachment only.
  • Clean with wood floor cleaner — no waxes, polishes, or abrasive cleaners.
  • Spray a light mist; mop in the direction of the strips.

Floor Care Tips

  • Trim larger pets' claws to avoid scratching floors.
  • Use mineral spirits on a damp cloth for difficult stains.
  • Avoid long-term direct sunlight; UV film on windows helps protect flooring.
  • Never pour water or liquid cleaner directly onto the surface.
